You Never Know What He'll Say (or Do)

I took Noah to a meeting the other night. He turned to the lady next to him and said, "I like your shoes."

Noah got another hair cut today. Before we went, I was talking about what was going to happen. (Last time he didn't want to wear the cape or sit still. It was a little rough.) He said "I don't want the hair dryer." I think what he really meant was he didn't want the clippers.

After his hair cut, he got a sucker for being such a good boy. I asked him if it was banana flavor. He said, "No, it's a sucker." I them asked if it tasted like a banana. Once again he said, "No, it's a sucker."

This afternoon he told me I looked stinky... Then he said I looked pretty. (I hope he was just confused.)

We were outside swinging. I was pushing him. He said "I want to go louder."

We always tell Noah he can scream outside, but not in the house. He and Greg were watching a YouTube video of DC Talk. Noah said "Are they screaming?" Greg said yes. Then Noah asked "Are they outside?"

Amazing Gray

My parents have a keyboard with pre-programmed songs on it. My dad always plays "House of the Rising Sun" but sings "Amazing Grace" (or Amazing Gray as Noah calls it). My dad found "Amazing Grace" to the tune of "House of the Rising Sun" on YouTube. So, enjoy Noah watching it... (He might just be a Blues singer when he grows up.)

Spring has Sprung...

...in more ways than one. Okay, so I can't take full credit for that statement, but it was so clever. Remember all the pregnant mommies at my church? Four of the seven have been born. The fourth was actually born on Easter morning, which is also when this picture was taken.

John & Noah with their Easter baskets

After church on Easter Sunday, we piled in the car and drove to Greg's parents house. Most of Greg's family was there. We had a really yummy lunch. And, Grandma planned an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Noah was the youngest hunter, so he got to go first. It was super windy. The eggs were blowing across the sidewalk after the kids had collected them and were going through their buckets.

"I thought she just had some candy in her hand... Where did it go?"

Playing with his Chalk Hawk

We've had lots of skinned knees already... His left knee has 3 separate skins on it; his right just has one massive one. When I put him in the bathtub the other night, he said, "Don't wash by boo-boos, mommy."

Ouch!

This weekend, Greg was out doing the winter clean up in the yard. Noah was helping. Greg had gloves on while he was raking (or braking as Noah says). Noah thought he needed "glubs" on too. Poor Greg... He was raking the leaves into nice little piles in the yard. Noah was coming along behind him spreading them out with his rake...

You Never Know What He'll Say (or Do)

Noah likes to get in and out of the car by himself. You'd think that would be helpful... Unfortunately, he's a dawdler. The other day I told him to hurry up. He looked up at me and said, "Don't worry, I'm comin'."

Today, Greg went in to get Noah up from his nap. Greg asked Noah how froggy got out. Noah replied, "He jumped over the gate."

Family of Four

I think this is the first decent picture of the four of us...

Eater Egg Hunt

Our church hosted an Easter egg hunt last weekend. We kept telling Noah we were going. He said, "I shoot 'em." (Greg hunts...)

Anyway, it was pretty cold. By the time I got John ready to go outside for the hunt, they were coming back in. It was the fastest hunt I've ever seen (or not seen as the case may be). Noah didn't get many eggs, but he was happy with his stash and he had more than enough candy!

Poppy's Layette

Okay, this would be a really good "Name that baby." That was not my intention when I started, but I can't resist! So, give it a try...

This is the layette my dad wore home from the hospital after he was born.

You Never Know What He'll Say (or Do)

Greg came out ready for work one day in a blazer. Noah (with mouth full of oatmeal) said "Don't wear that." Greg said he was going to wear it to work. Noah replied "Take that off. It's not comfy for you."

We caused a scene in the mall... I'm sure the first of many. We were running errands and were really close to the mall. I wanted to run in and get one thing really quick. I knew what I wanted and the store was close to the door. I had just been to Sam's and filled the back of the car with stuff , so I couldn't get the stroller out. I put John in the Baby Bjorn and just held Noah's hand. The store we were in has a little play area for kids. I told him he could play as long as he was obedient when I said it was time to go. He threw a fit (on the floor) when I said it was time. So, I picked him up and had him under my arm. (It was the only way I could carry a kicking, screaming boy with another one strapped to my front.) People were looking at me, of course. Finally, I asked Noah if he wanted to walk. He did, so I told him he needed to turn off his fit. Thankfully, he did!

Speaking of Sam's... I told Noah we were going to Sam's. The entire time we were shopping in Sam's, he kept saying "Is Sam going to be here?" Me: "No, Sam's is a store, not a person."

The other morning, I was cleaning up after breakfast. Noah was looking at one of Greg's books. He said "It says 'juh' mommy." I couldn't figure out what he was talking about. I turned around and looked. He was pointing to the G on the cover page.

Bye Bye Birdie

Can you guess what caused this on our living room ceiling?

Too bad the picture doesn't do it justice!

Last Saturday night, we went to small group. We had a sitter for Noah. When we got home, we walked her to the door. Greg was just about to close the door and in flew a bird! We were running around trying to figure out what to grab quickly to catch it or shew it out. Jinx (one of our cats) cornered it behind the sofa cushions. I'm thinking to myself, there are going to be bird guts all over my white sofa... Greg came up from the basement with a laundry basket. Not really sure exactly what happened, but the bird "escaped" and then there was a huge dent in our ceiling. After some chasing, the bird ended up in John's room. We closed the door so it was at least contained. I was a little disgusted it was in John's room, but what can you do? Meanwhile, John had woken up and was starving to death. I started feeding John. Greg went in to catch the bird. Every once in a while I would hear a bunch of noise. Then he would come out and I could hear the chirping (you know, heckling him). Eventually, he caught it under a box and was able to slide another flattened box under it.

The bird only pooped in one place. But there were feathers everywhere! Noah slept through the whole thing, but we told him about it the next morning. All week, he's been talking about it as if he were there. He keeps saying the bird flew in and pooped on the pillow and it was gross.
